February 16, 2010 Meeting Notes

 

Meeting called to order.

General Items:

Community Education:

Grant Updates:

1.                  Thomas Street Education update

·                    We have a parcel map selection of about 157 parcels that we need to get the names and addresses.

·                    The area consists of Thomas Street, Pecky Cedar, Johnson Valley, Timberland, Sluice Box, Miners Ravine, etc. in the area.

·                    Gary is working on a letter to put out to the property owners to invite them to a community meeting.

·                    We are possibly looking at putting this meeting together for May.

2.                  Rooster Ridge Fuel Break

·                    All the environmental documents have been sent off to BLM.

·                    We are just waiting for approval.

·                    Lu had mentioned that the flagging and mapping work done by Mason Bruce and Girard is exceptional.

3.                  USFS Grant Updates

·                    There are two grants that have been approved by the USFS.

·                    There were approved through the Watershed Restoration enhancement Act.

·                    Long Point – 150 acres – connects into Shirttail Fuel Break.

·                    Roach Hill II – 100 acres – Part of this project is on John Hughes’s property and the THP is already done.

4.                  2009 Clearing House Grant Projects

·                    Todd Valley Phase 2 has been submitted but unfunded as of 12/15/09.

·                    Pipeline Phase 2 has been submitted but unfunded as of 12/15/09.

5.                  2009 Stimulus Package Funding

·                    Still waiting to hear from the Forest Service.

Group Reports-

PCFSA-           Placer County Fire Safe Alliance – Chipper program is back in progress and will started at the end of January. They are still looking at charging a fee but have not figured out how this will happen.  George is looking into the usage of the Cal Trans sign during an emergency.

FFPD-             Foresthill Fire Protection District – There is a new fire hydrant map that is being put together that identifies where and how many fire hydrants are in Foresthill. Business inspections have started.

DAT-                    Disaster Action Team – Prepared and ready for action. The Red Cross is offering a free CPR class on Saturday March 20th in Rocklin.

USFS-             United States Forest Service – N/A

Firewise-         N/A

BOR-              Bureau of Reclamation – N/A

 

New Business:              Fall Festival is going to be in on the first Saturday in October.  There will the Fun Muster again.
