Foresthill / Iowa Hill Fire Safe Council

January 19, 2010 Meeting Notes

Meeting called to order.

Reading of the minutes approved.

General Items:

1.                  Website

·                    Tyler provided a chart of usage of the Fire Safe Council website. This shows the amount of hits per week and per month with a total for the year.  For 2009 we had 6,016 hits as opposed to 2008 with 6,230 hits.

·                    Also a chart was provided that showed which web page had the highest page views.  The Forest Service had the most hits with the Fire District coming in second.

Community Education:

Grant Updates:

1.                  Thomas Street Education update

·                    We have a parcel map selection of about 157 parcels that we need to get the names and addresses.

·                    The area consists of Thomas Street, Pecky Cedar, Johnson Valley, Timberland, Sluice Box, Miners Ravine, etc. in the area.

·                    We should try to canvas the area to get them to come and tell them that we have targeted the area and would like them to voice their opinion and concerns.

2.                  Rooster Ridge Fuel Break

·                    Close to wrapping up and all the Arch sites have been flagged.

·                    Should have the Arch report done by Monday.

·                    Possibly it could go to bid as soon as we get clearance from BLM. Maybe sometime in the middle of February.

2                    Monte Verde Estates

·                    The project is completed and looks good.

·                    Gary is going to try and bill PG&E for the work that was done under the power lines during that project.

3.                  2009 Clearing House Grant Projects

·                    Lu has been writing grants and putting them together before the deadline.

4.                  2009 Stimulus Package Funding

·                    Still waiting to hear from the Forest Service.

New Business:              Pat Moberg, Jennifer Montgomery’s aide, provided Lu with a map of projects that have been completed, are funded or are proposed, throughout the Placer County area through the Fire Safe Councils. This map is not quite accurate as it is missing some of our projects but still informative.

Good of the order.

Meeting adjourned.
