December 15, 2009 Meeting Notes

 

Meeting called to order.

Reading of the minutes approved.

General Items:

1.                  Blue Light

·                    During the month of December to support the police, fire and military personnel you are asked to put a blue light out in place of your regular porch light.  Maybe next year we can get something out there in regards to having the community get involved.

2.                  Fire Safe California Grants Clearinghouse

·                    Clearinghouse has put out a call for grant applications with a deadline of February 26, 2010.

·                    Luana is looking for more grants as well as resubmitting the Todd Valley Phase 2 and Pipeline Phase 2. Possibly Michigan Bluff.

·                    Possibly looking at getting grants for maintenance and spraying.

Community Education:

Grant Updates:

1.                  Rooster Ridge Fuel Break

·                    Have not run into any problems. Possibly have the crews work down in the diggings. 

·                    The area near BOR we would like to work with BOR and expand the fuel break.

·                    Looking at finishing sometime in January. Pruning trees per acre, high end 50 acres.

2                    Monte Verde Estates

·                    Phase 1 complete and approved by Cal Fire and are looking at starting Phase 2.

·                    Will start Phase 2 when it dries up a little.

·                    No problems or bad comments from the HOA.

2.                  2009 Clearing House Grant Projects

·                    They have called for new grant applications by February 26, 2010.

3.                  2009 Stimulus Package Funding

·                    Still have no received no information regarding the stimulus monies.

Group Reports-

PCFSA-           Placer County Fire Safe AllianceLast meeting was canceled due to weather.  Next meeting will be January 25th.  Chipper program is on hold but the County has approved funding for $50,000 to bring it back on line. The chipper program is looking at going to a cost share program with approximately $75 per hour with a half hour minimum. Questions that will come up is where will those funds go and what are they paying for.

FFPD-             Foresthill Fire Protection District – Gary is doing a lot of 4290/4291 inspections.  Other insurance companies are starting to follow Allstate’s standards.  There is one community off of Thomas Street that is in need of vegetation management.  Through the Fire Safe Council, if a flyer could be put together with information for a meeting in regards to clearing up that area.  This information will help identify the concerns of the Fire Safe Council.  It would be great if we could introduce this information flyer sometime by the end of January.

DAT-                    Disaster Action Team – The DAT team was ready to mobilize in case of a power loss but Foresthill did not lose power during the last storm.

Cal Fire           California Department of Forestry – All of Ed’s projects will be done by April 15th of 2010.  Transitioning to use con crew for projects on private lands.

BLM-              Bureau of Land Management – N/A

USFS-             United States Forest Service – N/A

Firewise-         N/A

BOR-              Bureau of Reclamation – Working on MOU with the Auburn Fire Department and it should be done by next month. Also, trying to establish priority areas that need to be worked on first.
