November 17, 2009 Meeting Notes

 

Meeting called to order.

Reading of the minutes approved.

General Items:

Community Education:

Grant Updates:

1.                  Rooster Ridge Fuel Break

·                    Mason Bruce & Girard – Robert has tentatively mapped out where the fuel break will go.

·                    There is some garbage throughout the area (junked cars).

2                    Monte Verde Estates

·                    Ran into a snag with the exemption from Cal Fire due to the inconsistencies of archeological studies reports.

·                    This has all been cleared and will schedule a date with Volcano Creek and Dave Funk to do a final walk through before the project gets started.

2.                  2009 Clearing House Grant Projects

·                    Still no word from the Clearing House.

3.                  2009 Stimulus Package Funding

·                    The USFS has received money but unsure of where it will be distributed.

Group Reports-

PCFSA-           Placer County Fire Safe Alliance –Jennifer Montgomery was going to look into getting loan funding from the County to continue with the chipper program.  They are looking at different possibilities for charging for the chipper service.

FFPD-             Foresthill Fire Protection District – Doing a lot of 4291 inspections as Allstate will not accept these after November 15th.  There are two developments that are in the works, Bellacar and Foresthill Heights.

DAT-                    Disaster Action Team – They are on stand by and ready for action.  There will be no meetings in November or December.

Cal Fire           California Department of Forestry – N/A

BLM-              Bureau of Land Management – N/A

USFS-             United States Forest Service – Working on the SSO under burn.  Looks like the weather is turning so the rest might have to wait until next spring.  Monies are for forest management and still do not know what to do.

Firewise-         N/A

BOR-              Bureau of Reclamation – Working to establish a Hazardous Fuels Reduction Program similar to the variance program that BLM offers.

 

New Business:              Denise Kelly with Allstate Insurance requested and received grant monies for $500.  This money is to go towards educational materials.  She would like to have a photo opportunity to get our story and information in the Messenger.
