Foresthill / Iowa Hill Fire Safe Council

September 15, 2009 Meeting Notes

Meeting called to order.

Reading of the minutes approved.

General Items:

1.                  Wildfire on the Divide (Harvest Festival)

·                    The poster is complete and has been distributed to the schools and we are now waiting for the rest of the posters to be printed and distributed to the businesses.

·                    We have sent out invitation letters and registrations with a few coming in already.

·                     Tamara West expressed the desire to help with the media.  We just need to get the information to her.

·                    The USFS is looking at having a booth with possibly offering to the kids an opportunity of making animal prints in clay.  They are also going to be offering sugar pine seeds.

2.                  Foresthill Community Fire Drill

·                    After talking about this at the Fire Drill at the last meeting everyone thought it was a good idea.

·                    Unfortunately the 49 Fire put a kink in the meeting that was suppose to take place with the OES and Placer County in attendance.  This meeting has been postponed until all parties are available.

·                    We would like to use the Reverse 911 to contact residents as a test and advertise during that test the Harvest Festival and to stop by and fill out a survey letting us know if the Reverse 911 was informative.

·                    Cell phones are generally not used with the system due to the constant changing of numbers and owners.

·                    There is a question of residents who do not have cell phones or computers and limited transportation.
