Meeting Notes
General Items:
1.
Introduction of
·
Came up to clear the Fuel Reduction Site after a call from Lu.
·
Gave us some brochures “Take Responsibility” to show home owners of
their responsibility to protect their home and property.
·
BLM is starting to take steps to become more involved in the Foresthill
/ Iowa Hill area.
·
BLM Variance Program has changed – the categorical exclusion has been
taken away so every request has to go through the NEPA (environmental
assessment) process which is very time consuming and
time sensitive.
2.
Wildfire on the Divide (Harvest Festival)
·
We are going to hit it hard in August and September.
·
We have sent out invitation letters and registrations.
·
We are looking at contacting the school to see what is involved in
students working on their community service.
Community Education:
Grant Updates:
1.
·
We have one road that needs to be cleaned and the fire crews will work
on this. All other roads are accessible.
·
Emergency Escape Route Signs have been put up with an article in the
Messenger. Feedback has been great.
2.
·
The fuel break is about 40 – 50 % complete.
·
Bit dry but going well.
3.
Pipeline 1 Fuel Break
·
This is 100% complete.
·
Lu has taken some before and after pictures of the project and it
turned out great.
4.
Rooster Ridge Fuel Break
·
Funding has been released for environmental work.
·
The check has been cut and we are just waiting for it to be signed and
mailed out.
5.
2009 Clearing House Grant Projects
·
Still no word from the Clearing House.
·
Todd Valley Phase 2 was submitted was unfunded as of 4/20/09.
·
Pipeline Phase 2 was also submitted was unfunded as of 4/20/09.
6.
2009 Stimulus Package Funding
·
Michigan Bluff (100 acres)
·
Eagle Crest (28 acres)
·
Mosquito Ridge (20 acres)
·
USFS has not heard anything on these monies yet.
PCFSA-
FFPD- Foresthill
Fire Protection District – The Mammoth Bar fire that erupted resulted in
the Water Tender being dispatched for 3 days.
DAT- Disaster Action Team – If you are off the hill when an emergency strikes
where do you seek shelter? Jennifer
talked to Red Cross and posed that question to them and they had mentioned
setting up an emergency shelter but there has not been a designated site yet
but they are thinking about it now. This
is something that OES and the
Cal Fire California Department of Forestry – They are done with the Mammoth Fire. This fire will probably expedite an agreement with BOR. The chipper program is running currently with 2 chippers but they are still way behind.
